Wreath-laying ceremony

The Abel Prize celebrations start in the Royal Gardens by Gustav Vigeland's monument of Niels Henrik Abel. The Abel Prize board chair will hold a speech and the laureate(s) will honour Niels Henrik Abel by laying down a wreath by the Abel monument.

The event does not require registration

Program:

  • The Chair of the Abel Board, Ingrid K. Glad, will deliver the opening speech.
  • Abel Prize laureate Masaki Kashiwara will lay a wreath at the Abel Monument.
  • After the ceremony, the Preses of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, Annelin Eriksen, will provide information about the week's program.
  • Musicians from the Armed Forces Staff Band will perform during the wreath-laying ceremony.
