Reception and Interview with the Abel Prize Laureate at the National Theatre

After the award ceremony where H.M. King Harald presents the Abel Prize to this year’s recipient, we will gather on the second floor of the National Theatre for a reception and a science interview with Abel Prize laureate Masaki Kashiwara.

Time: May 20, 15:00 | 3PM
Location: Nationaltheatret, Johanne Dybwads plass 1

Located along Oslo's main boulevard, Karl Johans gate, near the Royal Palace, the venerable National Theatre hosts a more informal reception on its second floor immediately following the Abel Prize ceremony at the University Aula.

This event is perfect for those interested in mathematics and other science students who want to delve deeper into understanding Kashiwara’s mathematical achievements.

In the interview, science journalist Torkild Jemterud from NRK will ask Kashiwara questions that shed light on his research.

Explains the theoretical foundation of digitalization
Kashiwara has developed mathematics as a powerful tool to understand and describe nature, and to explain the theoretical foundation for today’s digitalization.

His contributions to mathematics have opened doors to entirely new research fields and made it possible to solve problems that once seemed impossible.

Award-winning journalist
Torkild Jemterud is one of Norway’s most recognized science journalist. He is known from NRK’s Abels Tårn and has won an award for his radio series on artificial intelligence.

This is the second year in a row he is interviewing the Abel Prize laureate.
