Peter Lax was the recipient of the Abel Prize in 2005. He received the prize for for his groundbreaking contributions to the theory and application of partial differential equations and to the computation of their solutions.

Meanwhile, the Abel Committee keeps its cards close to its chest, but is happy to talk about the work they do.
