The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters awards one of the world’s most prestigious prizes in mathematics: the Abel Prize. The announcement for the 2026 prize will be made by the Academy's president, Annelin Eriksen.
The chair of The Abel Prize Committee, Professor Helge Holden, will read out the committee's citation. Holden's field of research is differential equations and mathematical physics, particularly hyperbolic conservation laws and completely integrable systems.
British science journalist Timandra Harkness will present the winner's work in an accessible way. Harkness is known for communicating and popularising both mathematics and statistics and is one of the UK's leading communicators of mathematical science.
